Why Is Making Mistakes Important?
Today I wanted to talk about a different type of immunity - no one is immune to making mistakes.
We are human and this is part of our makeup.
Making a mistake is not the same thing as failing. Failure is the result of a wrong action whereas a mistake usually is the wrong action so you can learn from it and fix it.
How to learn from your mistakes
Own your mistakes - you can’t learn from it until you admit it you made it.
Take ownership of it and work on a different outcome.
Reframe the error as an opportunity to learn rather than drown in negativity.
Pause and reflect on how you can do it differently to get a better outcome.
Your mind plays a significant role in how you view your mistakes and how you react to them.
If you have a goal-setting mindset you will view the mistake as an opportunity to improve.
Understand why you made a mistake - it is helpful to ensure it is not repeated.
Put lesson into practice - this involves change.
Mistakes are invaluable in teaching us lessons about ourselves and how we do things.
There are two mindsets in life: a fixed or growth mindset. Invest in developing a growth mindset - it can always change because it is just a belief system that you can choose.
'Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.'
Albert Einstein.
Remember: be kind to yourself and humble enough to know that you have made and will make mistakes, and take them as a tool from which you can learn.
