The Art of Slowing Down

the art of slowing down lisa blane wellness blog

Did you know that trees slow their metabolism down to become dormant in the winter?

Similarly, animals (like bears for example) slow down or hibernate a long sleep.

Mental stress runs on adrenaline which means you burn out and get tired quickly.

When you reduce the pace at which you’re living your life daily, you’ll notice how it allows you to make more time for rest and deeper meditation, and as a result, lower your baseline for mental stress. Slowing down is also necessary for making good decisions and thinking straight.

Don’t get me wrong, life forces us all to get busy and I myself am guilty of taking on too much at times, but it’s easy to confuse busyness with productivity.

When the mind is overstretched and overloaded with information, you miss out on being present in the moment.

Slowing down is what actually creates results and allows you to build the foundation for success in your personal life and during lifestyle changes.

If you feel overwhelmed and out of control due to too many things happening in your life, try slowing down the pace and you’ll notice some great benefits that unfold once your mind has managed to take a breather:

MIND CLARITY

You can’t see where you are going or what you are doing if you didn’t slow down and allow your mind to be fully engaged. You need reflection time to honor your body, mind, and spirit and to stay healthy.

Good Judgment

The ability to judge your situation well and make space for the right things to enter your life because you are thinking calmly.

EMOTIONS under control

Your emotions are a guide and they help you take a view on what’s happening around you and how to respond. If you are rushing all the time, it’s impossible to feel your emotions slowing down. Allow yourself to channel emotions into actions that are positive and have a happy outcome.

better DECISIONS

You make better decisions when your mind is not racing. This gives you the ability to absorb information and see circumstances clearly to make a good decision.

People are so busy chasing happiness - if they would slow down and turn around, they would give it a chance to catch up with them.
