What is the Role of a Wellness Coach?

what is wellness lisa blane blog coach.jpg

A wellness coach is someone who supports and encourages the practice of healthy daily habits that are strategic for each individual to bring positive forward motion and emotional well-being.

It is impossible to achieve wellness without understanding that it is not just the physical element that matters, it is also largely our emotional health too and how we connect with our environment socially, holistically and spiritually.

The fundamental aspects of wellness are:

  • Physical health

  • Holistic care

  • Self-care

  • Happiness

  • Relaxation and breathing

  • Playful activities and learning

  • Community support

  • Effective communication

  • Emotional balance

  • Self-respect

  • Self-love and the love of others

  • Spiritual health

  • Sense of purpose in life

Holistic Approach to Wellness

A wellness coach, such as myself, is an individual who helps you identify your purpose and goals in life and gives you the tools to achieve them.

My guidance encourages you to improve your energy and living environment step by step by implementing and sustaining a series of daily habits that inspire a change in behaviour that leads to making better choices.

Wellness is not a sprint. I focus on motivating you to make longterm lifestyle improvements that essentially help you break free from the outdated parts of your life and create a new skill set to elevate you to where you wish to be.

As a wellness coach, I am helping you to understand and invest in the characteristics that culminate in positive action. These characteristics include:

  • Self-awareness and self-responsibility

  • Nutrition education

  • Stress management

  • The right execution of exercise suitable for your body

  • Understanding your environment and the part it plays in your wellbeing

  • Realising the holistic aspect of wellness that goes beyond good nutrition and exercise

Another important aspect of being a wellness coach is helping you explore your spiritual side, your core being. This is the space where you find meaning, comfort, joy and acceptance - the ultimate inner peace. If I could bottle it for us, I would!

Looking for deeper meaning and ways of living life leads us to feel more connected, more grounded. We gain more personal happiness, make better life choices and become more consistent because we have more self-belief.

We don’t hold others accountable for our happiness and well-being - instead, they are a beautiful extension of it.

Healthy Lifestyle Beyond The Plate

Most of my clients come to me with superficial reasons as to why they need to change but for all of them, once we start on their unique wellness journey, they realise that is much deeper than having abs. The results exceed their expectations:

  • They reconnect with who they are.

  • They think positively about themselves.

  • Their understanding of themselves deepens.

  • They start to have a true relationship with themselves.

  • They start to appreciate their individuality.

  • They stop criticising who they are.

  • They stop seeking things that don’t hold up to who their true self is.

  • They value themselves and respect their body.

I am naturally passionate about my work because I see the benefits it reaps and the rewards it brings to lives of my clients and their families. which brings powerful joy to their other life outside of work and improves their relationship with themselves and those who they share their life with.

It is important that a wellness coach has the right “practice what you preach” attitude. They should be empathetic, compassionate and understanding, and have a solid counselling experience of helping many different individuals from different walks of life.
